I Ate The Whole Thing!

  • by

So did you overeat for the holidays? I sure didn’t (wink, wink). OK, maybe a little. Now it’s time to get back to your (our) real routine.  So how do we do that? Here are some quick suggestions that may help.

Christmas treatsGet rid of that really good but bad for you that’s still in the kitchen. You know the stuff I’m talking about! That plate of Christmas goodies that the neighbors brought over. And that tin of caramel popcorn your in-laws gave you. And yes, I saw you hide that stash of Ghirardelli peppermint bark in the freezer!

  1. I know that stuff tastes soooo good, but it’s time to put away childish things and do what you’re supposed to do. And when I said get rid of, I didn’t mean to eat it all. I meant to throw it in the trash! It may be wasteful, but you don’t have to tell anyone what you did. And don’t give it to someone else either as it will be bad for them too!
  2. Let’s do some meal prep too. If you leave the prep to the last moment you will be tempted to stop for fast food on the way home. You already did that during the holidays because you were “rushed” for time. You’re not rushed now so start planning and go shopping for real food! The stores aren’t packed like they were two weeks ago, and the return rush is almost over. Cook at home and eat some real food for a change.
  3. Country skiingOne last thing. Work on getting some exercise to burn off the weight you gained from holiday eating. I know the weather is bad and getting out isn’t fun right now, but as the dad said in Calvin and Hobbes, “It builds character.” Just like your credit card purchases, you enjoyed the season so now its time to pay the bill.

The holidays were fun, and I hope you created some wonderful memories. But now it’s time to get back to building the life you want. Getting back into shape will help you achieve that.
